Valley Crossing Exercise : Management relearned.

What the problem is all about  ?
The problem is that  there are three people and they are trying to cross a valley and what they have with them is just a rod. The width of the valley is such that it is longer than one step of a  person  but shorter than 2 steps a person can take.

Solution:

1. Now when the first person will take the first step, he will be half risky since one of his feet will be in air and other on the ground, but at this time the other two persons will be safe as they have their feet on ground.

2.     After that the first person will be in a full risky position as both his feet will be in air , the second person will be in fully safe situation  and the third person will also be fully safe
3. Then the first person will reach the other part of the valley and will be fully safe and the second person will be half safe as his one foot will be off the ground and the third person will be fully safe.

The same process will be repeated for the remaining two persons too thereby each person having 6 positions where he will be safe , 2 positions where he will be half safe and one position where he will be unsafe.

So what exactly this whole exercise teach us :

Teamwork:

Unless and until the goal and objective of each individual is aligned with that of the team , the probability of the success of the team is very dicey.

Trust:

We have seen in the exercise that at one point of time the weight and safety of the person is totally dependent on the other two persons so one has to trust his team players so that a commin objective or goal is to be achieved.

Communication and Coordination:

Communication and coordination are the two vital important aspect for any organisation or teamwork. If effective communication and proper coordination would not have been there then probably this task would never would have been completed.

So here are some images and clip of the activity which happened in the class.
