It is said that "Well Planned is half done" so if you plan your goals well ahead of time you are actually ahead of your competition but not only you have to plan your goals well the goals should be SMART now what exactly is meant by SMART it will be discussed later but let me tell you first about an interesting phenomenon Pygmalion Effect.
So the Pygmalion effect state that the behavior of an individual can be changed if people have great expectations from them for eg A team captain uses this effect to great use by motivating his team players and setting their goal a notch higher what he actually think is achievable. This effect is extensively used in schools where teachers expect good performance from their students and students actually perform well in their studies.
So now back to SMART goals so what exactly they stand for :
1.S: Specific, sensible, structured, sustainable
2. M: Measurable
3. A: Achievable, Ambitious, attainable
4.R: Realistic, Relevant
5.T: Tangible, Timely.
So these SMART goals become very important not only for an individual but for organizations too.As the management is more concerned about long term results so setting their goals clearly is one of the most important task.
SMART GOALS -------------> SMART ORGANISATIONS
So stay tuned for some other concepts in POM.
